Every year UPSC conducts a rigorous examination followed by interviews  to select one of the best talents of entire country to be a part of India's Bureaucracy. UPSC exam is also considered one of the toughest selection procedure of world. There is a huge craze to crack this examination among Indian students.Approx 11 lakhs candidates applied for UPSC prelims last year for only about 980 vacancy. So you can think about competition. Indian Administrative Service (भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा) is considered as the highest ranked post among all the services and it can also been seen in post preferences of the candidates as most of the toppers of this examination opt for IAS followed by IFS,IPS and IRS.In all available posts IAS is that kind of posts holding of which can help officers to work from ground reality. Generally IAS officers are appointed as a district magistrate in their initial period of service. To be an IAS officer is a dream for many aspirants as you get very high social prestige and you are the ultimate BOSS of your district as a DM. They are also responsible for handling the current affairs of government which  involves framing and implementation of policies in consultation with the concerned ministers. And due to it's high popularity UPSC Exam is sometimes also termed as IAS Exam.

DABANG IAS

Candidates from all across the country appeaar and clear this examination. But New Delhi (Mukherjee Nagar) is the coaching hub for UPSC Preparation. There are many coaching institutions for the preparation of this examination and students from all regions of the country use to come here with their dreams to join country's elite services and desire to serve their country by their innovative minds. As the exam is very competitive and tough students have to struggle a lot to fullfil their dreams to be a bureaucrat. The whole selection procedure is divided into mainly 3 parts:
         1) Prelims
         2) Mains
         3) Interview

The candidates who clear all the stages of this selection procedure and are shortlisted  in merit list have to go for training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration , Mussoorie, Uttarakhand . The trainee officers are awarded Master's degree in Public Management from Jawaharlal Nehru University , Delhi.

In final results students from several states of India qualify for the trainee period but usually Bihar tops the list by giving this country some of the most talented bureaucrats. There is also a proverb in Bihar state "Bihar me bachcha paida hote hi LAL-BATTI ka sapna dekhne lagta h".By the way this government banned LAL-BATTI even for president.Whatever it be but this country needs such talents for most important posts of this democracy. For many years it has also been said that UPSC exam is comparably easy for Arts stream students but looking at current scenario and final results it is not relevant because today many Engineers,Doctors and students from other streams are also topping the list. So there is no such stream barrier. It depends on your potential that how you cover the entire syllabus of this rigorous test and get success to develop your personality and writing skills. The syllabus of this examination consists of many subjects from diverse fields and yes  the percentage of subjects from Arts and Humanities are more in numbers but it hardly matters to be a only reason for disqualification of a student from another streams. As  students have to read about many subjects irrespective of their field, students from arts and humanities also read about science and technology.Aspiring students really labour hard to achieve their goals and it worths as they are going to hold that type of posts which determine the growth and future of our country. They also lead our country at international platforms as an IFS (Indian Foreign Service) officer who are also appointed as ambassador of India in many countries.
IFS CAR

In conclusion we can say that UPSC selects top notch talents for key positions of our country and the students who clear this examination labour very hard to achieve their goals  .They dream it and they get it by their extraordinary potential ,determination and desire to serve the largest democracy of the world.
