IS IIT EVERYTHING IN INDIA ? -INDIADRILLS

  Archit Gupta

Namaste,In INDIA there are two synonyms of GOD.First one is cricketer and the another IITIAN. IITs (Indian Institute Of Technology) are the dream college for almost all the aspiring engineers of INDIA.Undoubtedly IITs are the flagship colleges of this country and it will not be an exaggeration that many alumnus of these institutes holds top position in the world.

But here we gathered to discuss  is IIT everything? What if someone fails to make it to the IITs.Is that an END?As we know to get a seat in IITs is not a cup of tea .Approx 12 lacs aspiring students take the entrance exam to make it to these premiere institutions. And only approx 8500 students make it to the IITs .Then what about others ? Can they become successful engineers? The answer is 'WHY NOT?'.There are many Indians who were not a part of these premiere institutions but still succeed to get success in life. And the biggest example is Satya Nadella (CEO,Microsoft).

There are many examples like him who did not get the tag of IITs but still getting success in their respective field by their talents and self confidence .We are used to hear about increasing suicide rates of depressed students preparing for the entrance examination mostly from Kota,Rajasthan (The Coaching Hub of the country).
In our country, students and parents are so obsessed with the IITs tag that in race to get this they probably lose  their passion and talent as we see in a movie named '3 IDIOTS'.We have to understand that there still exist a beautiful world beyond IITs .I am not saying that who get admitted in these colleges are not living their life but who did not able to make it are also not failures. As it is said that in India people do engineering first and then think what to do ? There had been also many students from IITs who found their passion in another field after completing their engineering. Some finds their love in writing poetry, photography,Administrative services  and the list continues. And these are that type of interests which  don't require a IIT degree. One most famous example to that is Chetan Bhagat (An IIT alumnus) found his love in writing and now he is one of  the most successful writers of this country.

And there can also be a another aspect of it that he wasted a  seat because may be at his place a student who got admitted would give his full life to the sake of technology and science. So that was a loss to the world of technology and sciences but this is a irony of this country that people use to leave their passion and occupy someone's deserving seat of another field. So in conclusion I want to say  that indeed IITs are great but only for those who love technology and sciences and think they can excel in this field.Don't be a sheep . Always follow your passion you will get success for sure irrespective of fields. So don't think that you can not do anything if you were not able to get admission in these colleges. There are still many scopes open for you.And at last I must say that please please please do what you love and don't grab seats from more deserving ones who love their area of interest.
